So Im looking to buy a new psu for my build, but didn't find any psu with good reputation. Most of the psu that I liked are likely to suffer from coil whine noise based on online reviews from people complaining about getting a psu that suffer from coil whine, and the replacement get the exact same noise. So what's up with all this new psu with coil whine.
1) Is there any psu that you recommend that has 600W-800W that doesn't suffer from coil whine.
2) is the coil whine caused by some kind of incomapatibility between the mobo and psu ?

The list of PSU that I looked up are:
Corsair TX 750,
Corsair HX 650
Corsair AX 750
Corsair AX 760

Well, since all PSU's have coils, and some coils whine, there's no sure way to get one that won't whine. It's more of a problem with GPU's than PSU's. But don't look to us for a guarantee, you won't get one, just our personal experiences and opinions. Just get a high quality one and RMA it if it whines. Everyone's mileage varies (as my HX 750 is completely silent).

EDIT: Also, think about this: are people going to post youtube video's of their totally silent PSU's? That'd make for a boring video and the people with silent ones are too busy being happy with and using their PC's...it's very biased to rely on the number of negative reviews or youtube videos.

I'm running an HX 750 and it doesn't make a sound (literally, it shuts off the fans at low loads, so it's totally silent). Corsair makes solid PSU's, anything above the CX line should be excellent quality and not have any whine, they use paraffin liberally, which stops the vibration.

One of my rigs uses a Seasonic X750 and the other one uses a PC Power & Cooling Silencer MKII and neither one make a sound. The ony real guarantee against coil whine is to get a truly fanless PSU. There's a few out there like the Silverstone Nightjar, and I think Rosewill makes one as well.

coil whine has nothing to do with the fan. the fan noise is acceptable. in general the psu get coin whine when it's under load, like when playing a demanding game or so. it only happen when it's stressed out.

@Jaxen, there is a lot of youtube video that shows hx750 with coil whine.

I think it has something to do with the motherboard. Some people don't get the noise when they change the motherboard, or use another psu for that motherboard. So I guess some mobo and psu don't get along with each other.

My motherboard is Asus p8z77-v, someone with exact mobo can tell me if he got any psu that doesn't produce that noise. Thanks.

yes I totally agree with you, most people wont post a video of their working product, but when you hear a lot of people who had coil whine do get the same noise when they replace (RMA) their psu, so it's either that there is a lot of faulty units, or that there is some kind of incampatibility between the psu and the mobo.

From wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coil_noise :

"These coils, which may act as inductors or transformers, have a certain resonant frequency when coupled with the rest of the electric circuit, as well as a resonance at which it will tend to physically vibrate."

so a psu may have bad coil whine with on pc setud and none with another different setup. some people when they try the noisy psu with their old setup it doesn't make any coil whine, but when they use it with their new setup it start making the whining noise.

My motherboard is : Asus p8z77-v , if anyone happen to have a working psu with this mobo, please post your psu here. Im being cautious since if I got some psu that doesn't work with my mobo I can't RMA it, since it will cost me more than the actual psu.
