FX8120 game startup black screen

Hi

My problem is that I can run some games like Guild Wars 2, Dragons prophet or Deus Ex human revolution just fine, but for some other games as soon as I launch them my monitors go black and then appear to be in sleep mode (not no input standby mode) and my computer just sits like that until I restart it. I wonder if it is an issue with Directx11 as I have recently started programming with dx11 for my uni course and full screen projects using dx11 do the same.

I have a FX-8120 Cpu, with a GA-990Xa-UD3 motherboard, a GTX 660 graphics card and 8GB of ram. I have the latest version of the bios (F13) and have tried running with just 1 monitor (my main monitor is 1920×1080)

Can you help or give me any ideas?

Thanks

This is most likely linked to your graphics card, how much graphics memory do you have? is your directx version the latest?

if that was the case i would think that gw2 would not run as well as it does, should I try taking out the card and running gw2 to see how it runs?

2GB is more than enough, maybe try lowering your resolution?

what kind of PSU do you have? the GPU needs a good branded PSU of 450-500w
