In anticipation of the r9 290 x availability close upon us and my desire to try this card out, I figured it was time to shop for the motherboard and cpu. I dont know if my search skills have failed me or what but I have not been able to find an AMD motherboard that supports pci express 3.0. and the motherboard I had planned to get, looks like it isnt compatible with the vishera 8350 cpu without being upgraded. So Im desperately looking for suggestions on motherboard/cpu combo that will power, work well, and compatible with the r9 290x card. This is my first time going with radeon so my knowledge is very lacking. I have plenty of power 1.3 tw, and 16 gig of 19200 ram.

Or am I looking at this all wrong and am I wasting time with AMD anymore? Ive always ran AMD but seems intel has the better chunk of publicity when it comes to mb/cpu power.

Ya, there are not any(yet). You'll have to go Intel if you want PCIe 3.0. But you don't need to anyway, there is no bottleneck wth PCIe 2.0. Maybe the next generation(20nm) GPU's in crossfire/SLI will be strong enough to benefit.

However(FYI), Tom's tested the FX 8350 with 7970's in crossfire and vs. an i7 the AMD CPU did bottleneck the GPU's.
