RDC works at work but not from home

I am running Win 8 on a laptop. My laptop connects to the corporate network through RDC. At work, everything works great. At home, using the same laptop, I establish a VPN tunnel to the corporate network and that enables fine. But when I launch RDC to connect to the corporate network through the VPN, it doesn't connect and times out. It gives me the generic error that the RDC service is not established. I thought it would be my wireless network in my home, but the same error happens when connected directly through an Ethernet port on the back of my FIOS router. Any suggestions?

Are you sure the VPN came up properly can you ping the server you want to connect to. It is highly unlikely it is anything at your house once the VPN is up and running. Once you have a VPN up all traffic is completely transparent to all equipment between your PC and the office. It is more likely something about RDC and the VPN have incompatibility issues.

Thank you for your response. I have tried that, and got same result. Could it be a config setting on the FiOS Actiontec router that got changed, say after a reboot when power was lost during a storm? It had been working several months ago.

That gives me something to work on. I'll check it out today.
