I have formatted an old pc with windows xp and i can't get no sound even if there are no yellow question marks on the device manager. I've tried almost every solution on the web and nothing works. I would appreciate if someone could help.
Here's a report from my system taken from Aida64:

Hello... are you sure there is a realtek chip on the motherboard?... ok what happens when you go into the Control Panel and run the Realtek software sound test? it will show if you are plugged in...
Also go into Control Panel and run Sound software, and make sure playback is set to Realtek Audio device.

I think the sound is onboard. It's a friend's old notebook...

I'm not sure if it's a realtek audio device because i could only install successfully a via audio driver to get everything right in the device manager but still no sound at all.

The laptop is an Arima. I don't think they are working anymore. I can't even get an email contact from them :p too bad. I've formatted so many computers over the years and this is the first time that happens...

Hello... alot of the Wallmart specials... and others... will have some off brand chips on the motherboard, I remember days of Packard Bell, and even Dell, would have china off brands installed in them... and drivers for modems were a Big headache to get workin agian... if it says you have a Sound Device installed in Windows DEVICE MANAGER, then look for a Windows setting, cable problem... or even could be shutoff in the BIO's... goodluck

Hello... as a lesson from this experience, if your wanting to load fresh Windows on old computers, it's best to look and see what drivers are being used for LAN,MODEM,SOUND, in the Device Manager, and make copies of all the driver files used, before deleting, because of Companies out of business.
Also try and get the original driver install disk with any Old computer.
What I do too is look at the motherboard and identify the Chips being used and searching the part numbers on them.
