Hey everyone :) ,

I am currently building a new system and I was wondering what you guys would recommend for my needs. I want a gaming pc that will last for at least 8 years or more (will be upgrading through time as well). I was thinking of getting the 4820k with the asus rampage black edition that's coming out soon or the 4770k (what motherboard is recommended with that for OC'ing?).

I already purchased the gtx780, 1200 watt power supply (planning to sli 2 to 4 of the 780's over time), planning to get the ripjawsz 2666 if I get the 4820k. If I went with the 4770k I would probably get either the tridents or dominator plats.

Thanks for advices and looking forward to seeing responses!

Cheers

Well the 4820k gets you a higher upgrade path since you could get a 6-core later. The 4770k is the more logical choice though. There will be one more generation released on the 1150 socket. Performance between the two i7s is similar. The 4820k has more overclocking headroom.

Awesome, thanks for all the responses :) . Is it possible to sli 4 graphic cards with the 4770k? From the sound of it though, the 4820k would give me more room for upgrading, unless the next gen for 1150 is way better then the 2011's. I was wondering how come the 4770k is so recommended compared to the other cpu's? ( I know that might be a dumb question lol) Is it because of haswell?

Thanks again!

It is possible to have 4 way SLI on 4770k but 4820k would be better as 2011 gives you 40 PCIE lanes. And 1150 also doesnt offer dual 16x slots but 2011 does.
