Ok so....I just did a fresh install of Windows 8 onto my pc on my ssd.

Now I have a mechanical hdd that was partitioned in windows 7 (for games and separate files).

It has completely disappeared in windows 8 (my bios still picks it up).

Is there anyway to get my hdd back with all the information still on it or anyway to just get windows 8 to pick it up at all?

I've just done the jump from windows 7 to 8, yes it's probably overconfidence on my part but I'm confused as hell....ugh metro.

The connectors on your board!
Intel® X79 chipset :
2 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s), brown
4 x SATA 3Gb/s port(s), black
Support Raid 0, 1, 5, 10
Marvell® PCIe 9128 controller :
2 x SATA 6Gb/s port(s), gray
ASMedia® ASM1061 controller :
1 x Power eSATA 6Gb/s port(s), green
1 x eSATA 6Gb/s port(s), red

If you are in they gray connectors they have to be enabled in UEFI/BIOS and the driver needs to be installed. Bottom of the SATA drivers http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/SABERTOOTH_X79/#support
The black and brown connectors are native and it should simply work

I've already installed that SATA driver, the driver itself picks the drive up but I'll have a look in the BIOS to see if it's enabled....which I'm sure it is....

Strange that my other drive (another internal 1tb mechanical not my ssd) is picked up but the one I partitioned isn't....

It's just weird that Windows 7 picked them up but Windows 8 doesn't.
