I got it when the amd 965 came out. is a 1000W to much

TX comes with 5 years warranty. And yeah I guess 1000W would an overkill. Try RMA'ing it first see why did it go bad. If its due to excessive load then try the upgrading option?

I did Try RMA'ing it was a no go .and it is due to excessive load. will a 850W work with my pc

Well an 850TX isnt bad either. But I guess the load is too much
