Rome Total War II

Hi,
Just got the Gigabyte Radeon R9 280X and playing Battlefield 4 on ulta with such an awesome smoothness. I was just wondering, why cant it handle Rome Total War 2 on Extreme, Ultra or Very High, without having low fps?

Because the bottleneck is either elsewhere (processor, RAM, etc.) and/or the game permits settings that target future hardware.

Thanks for your answer. These are my specs:
-HX 750W
-i7 2600K
-MSI P67A-GD65 B3
-Kingston ValueR. DDR3 1333 MHz 8GB (2 x 4 GB)
-Gigabyte Radeon R9 280X 3GB

Any suggestions to upgrade something?

Check your software/hardware updates. My setup i7 2600(non k) 8 gigs ram and gtx 560 runs the game very well on high settings.Therefore on your setup it should be even better

How is your setup doing in the big battles zoomed in? Smooth fps or?

Yes i get something like 30-40 frames on high settings, but let me check again, i haven't played the game for month and a half. I'll write you back

Actually i was running the game on extreme (i was surprised myself

) i am getting 25-30 frames on big battles, zoomed in

Lol, sounds wierd that I shouldnt be able to at least run it on ultra...

Yeah i know, you should get even better fps, btw everything updated on your pc?

Was there any difference between the previous driver and the new one. Some new ones run worse than the previous drivers. Once,I stayed with one driver for 6-7 months, until they released good one.

Dont know. I installed the driver from the cd in the package, and then updated online... Amd is new to me

Did you restart your pc after updating? And if you have the time to fool around try with previous drivers and see if there is any difference. Your GPU is ok, because you have played BF4, so some malfunciton is out of question.

TW 2 is very CPU heavy, especially on ultra. you could get a better CPU cooler and overclock? You should be able to get 4.5Ghz with a good cooler and this will improve your FPS in TW2.
