I have 16Gb(2x8) CL10 1600mhz ram and I'd like to know weather I should overclock it. I've already put it up to 1866 as I've read vengeance is good to overclock with and it seems to be running fine, I haven't touched the timings though. What I'd like to know is can anyone tell me what sort of timings I should be using (as advanced as possible please) or the best setting for his ram, much thanks :)

Did you stresstest the RAM before declaring it stable?

Anyway. There usually is not much point to overclocking RAM these days unless you have an AMD APU or use VERY memory intense applications.

Right well after running memtest for a few minutes I got errors so I've put it back to stock and it's still giving me error after error :/

That is quite strange. Check that you are running the RAM in XMP profile in the BIOS, reseat the RAM.

will do although I don't think amd supports xmp

Ah you didnt mention a system. :)  See now its in your signature.

Right AMD is not a system that is very high speed AND high amount of RAM friendly.
So try and just reseat, then start lowering to 1333MHz as a test to find stability.

Then try each one of the 2 chips individually.

What motherboard do you have?

Right, I've re-seated, relaxed one of the timings and stuck to 1600mhz and memtest has gone longer than it has before without errors, i'll just wait and see how it goes for an hour or so

Thought so ahaa, was going to say there must be something odd because my ram shouldn't have to go below stock

Drop everything to stock and start increasing to find where stability is lost.

Also you should be using the multiplyer to overclock. Not the BUS speed.

If by bus speed you mean FSB I've not touched it, I've only ever used multis, i'll drop the nb to stock and see where that takes me

North bridge is bus speed. :)  Multiplyer is not a problem. Well should not be.

Like I said, very little reason to overclock RAM. :)  almost no benefit, but still the risk.

Ok, still can't say I'm not tempted but I'll take your word for it, at least my system is stable now which I guess means I have better performance than before haha, thanks :)
