Hi everyone, i have the following issue and i cant make any progress towards solving it.

I turned on my pc this morning but the monitor seemingly didnt "turn on", as in, the screen was all black and the light was flickering as there was no signal. i shut down my pc by holding the power button and started it up again. this time everything went fine, i got to the screen where i was asked if i want to start windows in safe mode or normally etc, i picked normal. then it started running really really slow, it took a long while to get into windows and it continued to run super slow. it didnt seem to detect any internet connection, i thought the cable was just a bit loose but that wasnt it. i soon noticed there was no sound at all, and when i started up winamp it gave me an error message about not having any sound drivers installed. i then ran dxdiag and it didnt detect neither a graphics nor a sound card.

i have no idea on how to proceed and any help will be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance

This has happened to me in the past. Have you tried resetting your computer again. This time select delete restoration data. I will be honest I have no idea how to get that selection to pop but I usually get it when I click normal then reset while its loading. Let me know if that works for you.

http://www.microcentertech.com/tech_center/DB/read_article.php?faqid=./TechNotes/TEC5000133B.htm shows you what you should see. From what I read it should happen after a unsuccesful attempt of resuming your system.

I guess that is why when I select resume and click the reset it works. I am forcing it to fail.

Sounds like your motherboard may be failing. Get in contact with your manufacturer to see if it's still under warranty. If it is, set up a RMA with the company.

If it's not covered, then you can try to find someone that would be willing to try your parts on their motherboard(if compatible) to see if they work properly. If so you just determined that your motherboard is failing. Hope this helps somewhat.
