Hiya guys, my rig is a Gigabyte ga-x58a-ud3r MB, with a i7 950 and had 3x2GB Corsair XMS3 (CMX6GX3M3A16000C), that Overclocker UK set up for me. Well I got another 3x2GB kit popped them in and the PC doesn't even let me boot, I can hear the fans but no life. I take out the new ram and it works again.

Anyone know what I am doing wrong? Also if I do get the machine to go to the bios what kind of setting do I need to use? I am a total noob to all this but want to upgrade my machine to last a few more years :)

This is not compatibility issue, that why we don't recommend buy two set the RAM because it maybe 50-50 chance to work. You can try play around with the RAM, like only install the new set, if the PC boot, then install the old set. Or if all are same you can try to mix them, if you still can't work out, only way return the new set, buy the 3X4GB set if you real real need that aount the RAM.

Thanks for the reply. It is the exact same ram and brand in every way I just bought them at different times. I did what you said but no luck, what ever 3 I combine soon as I add any extra it won't boot. :(
