Choosing 7950 over 760. Right choice?

So, after a lot of deliberation I am going to chose the 7950 over the 760, what swayed it? Mantle. After looking up some stuff on mantle it seems like the 7950 would be a great addition to my system. It's basically the fact that I saw that the r9 290x running mantle would be able to outstrip a titan, which got me very interested and asking questions like "what could that do for the 7950?" I also saw that the mantle update in December for bf4 will allow utilization of 8 core processors, and considering I'm getting a fx 8320, that seems to fit nicely. So to summarise, the mantle is rumoured to increase the performance in bf4 by miles and to allow for processors with 6+ cores to perform way better. Am I making the right choice, or just wearing blinkers, so to speak? If you're a fanboy ten you can go do one, unless you're willing to not be biased. Also, I heard tat mantle may be used for future games, so if I get a 7950 now, in 2-3 years time will a lot more games be using that API and I have infact made the right choice? Or will I find bf4 will run it, and maybe another couple then die off? I have already changed my mind typing this up, and no its not because i type slow, its that I am so unsure which cad to get, i mean bf3 was optimised for nvidia and I can see how amazingly the 760 pulls away in benchmarks against the 7950, would it be the same case with mantle on top of optimization for amd cards? ARGH so god damn confused!

A 290x is better than a Titan without Mantle. Mantle has nothing to do with it.

Get whichever card is cheaper. You will be happy with either. The differences are PUNY.

Writing that wall of text, you should just re-read it and you'll have your answer. You're already set on a 7950, mantle is a godsend, and it's going to put nvidia in the grave, etc. Just enjoy what you have/will buy, and if a 760 happens to trump your 7950, then sell your 7950 and grab a 760. If it doesn't, then enjoy your card.

I'm not set on any card, I am quoting what others have said. I wanted a helpful response if I was making the right choice, as the 760 is a better card, but mantle may boost the 7950 over it, I am yet to have an answer which is even somewhat helpful.

7950 outperformed the GTX 760, in DX11

Benchmarks in Mantle=???

Get the card which fits in your budget and plays the game you want to play at the quality and speed you want. Don't base your decision on what might happen in the future with mantle because it all depends the creators of the games and if they want to implement it.

I don't think you can go wrong with either card so it's not like you're going to end up making a huge mistake but the best bet is to go off the information you have which is factual not speculative.

wow! Wasn't expecting that, is that mainly because of the optimization due to amd working with dice? Anyway, thats without mantle so it sounds like with mantle, the 7950 should be pretty god damn good

You have a great point, i'll make sure to consider that when getting the card, but at the minute, it looks like the 7950 is gonna be my new card :D
