Hi, here's my intended build:

Case: Cooler Master Elite 130 Mini ITX Tower Case
CPU: Intel Core i5-4570 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-H87N-WIFI Mini ITX LGA1150 Motherboard
RAM: Crucial Ballistix 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5" Solid State Disk
GPU: MSI Radeon R9 280X 3GB Video Card

What are some efficient cpu coolers for my case? I understand that the cooler master case has a very small clearance, and most hsf coolers would either be too tall (not fit at all) or too wide (block the pci-e). Would closed loop cooling such as the Seidon 120M be the answer?

Also, would it be necessary to get additional case fans or change the stock fan? This is my first build and I do not want it to be too complicated. Much thanks!

Solution
I have used this for my 4770K in an ASUS Maximus VI Impact Board on a CM Elite 130

CPU Cooler:1 x Prolimatech PRO-SAM17 Samuel 17 CPU Cooler http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835242009
CPU Fan:1 x GELID Solutions FN-PX12-15 120mm Case cooler http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835426015

a single fan closed loop would likely be the best fit... your not gonna have any room to oc the cpu but in a mini case thats not gonna happen anyway. reason for this is that due to space restriction an air based cooler just wont get the flow needed to keep the system from melting. just try to get a fan that has higher air flow than the psu extracts.
as for brands. coolermaster and corsair do decent quiet-ish coolers. you will have to remove the fan that comes with the case to get the rad and fan in though...

Hi p_latini and anyone who's implemented this solution - whats the level of noise like with the combo you have - is it audible through the case at ~2m? Thinking about doing this for a living room build instead of a water system. Any thoughts?

p_latini's solution can't really be best answer as it won't work for the OP. His motherboard won't support a cooler like that.

@bilbo_m - The Elite 130 is a really nice case on the budgety side of things but if you want to do higher end air cooling there are better options like the Node 304 which also has a built in fan controller for noise control and much greater CPU cooler support, regardless of the motherboard.

bilbo_m, the noise level is quite low as the GELID Fan is low speed with high air capacity, however i cannot say it is completely inaudible coupled together with the CASE Fan.

One important thing to mention is that the Prolimatech Cooler may have interference with the PCI-E Slot depending the location of the CPU Socket in different MoBos. In general in the ASUS work fine, however i know that in other vendors that have a socket more towards the bottom my have an impact when you use a GPU.
