Hey everybody,

I'm looking to upgrade my PC, so I can record and play BF4 at high settings.
Here is my current setup:
Intel i7-2600K CPU @3.4 GHZ 4 Cores (64 Bit)
16gb RAM-Super Talent
AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series
230gb SSD
1,000gb HDD
Corsair CX600 Power Supply
LG Optical Drive

I have a budget of $1,000. What are the upgrades I can do? Please tell me. I'm going to be recording AS WELL AS playing BF4 high settings. Help me out!

PS: I lag when I play bf4 high settings and record...

Solution

Slow down. The first step is to go CF. Get another of your 7900 series cards, probably a 7950 or 7970. Also you will need a bigger power supply. I'd recommend at least 850W

The I-7 2600K is a pretty good processor, I'd stay with that for now.

What gpu do you have?
Change the psu to an XFX 650w gold or the EVGA NEX750G
Cpu to the 4770k, mobo pretty much any Z87 you like.
Maybe crossfire the gpu's or get a gtx780 or 2x760's as they perform better than a titan but no just adding another one to upgrade will have to get a whole new gpu in the future, they cost the same as the 780

Overclock your CPU, that should really really really help with recording as that is what is doing all the processing of the video.

If you are looking to upgrade your GPU I would advise going with Nvidia. Reason being is that they have just released shadowplay and that records in really nice quality at 1080p 60 fps and the file sizes aren't too massive without any noticable performance hit. I have been testing it on my GTX 680 and fps just doesn't drop. Also the ability to save the last 10 minutes of video if you aren't recording is really great.

+1

I am forced to go with the Toaster. With that generous budget of $1,000 you could go with a GTX 780 card, which run at about $500 now and be done with it. As he says, the new Nvidia Shadowplay is a winner. You can keep everything else the same. The GTX will give you some nice future proofing. I am assuming you have a 1920X1080 display.

So I should get a GTX 780? Will my PSU be enough to handle it? What about a new processor (I don't want to overclock)
