Computer Freezing With New Graphics Card

I've recently just installed a new graphics card (Radeon HD 7790) and on some games (BF3 and Infestation) my pc seems to freeze for a couple of seconds and then plays the game (I have around 60-70 fps between freezing) I have installed the latest drivers for my graphics card but it didn't make any difference. Can anyone help?

It appears your power supply might be inadequate. Although I could be wrong.

"500W (or greater) power supply with one 75W 6-pin PCI Express power connector recommended "

Do you have a more powerful power supply around that you could try out?

If not see what others have to say before trying out a new one.

By the way, what was your old graphics card? Did you uninstall the drivers (if it was an NVidia card)?

I've just bought this PS and I posted on this forum the other day and asked if I could put that card with my PS and they all said that my power supply is one of the best because it has a special type of technology (Something beginning with T) But I had a ATI Radeon 2400xt in before. But I didn't uninstall any drivers before installing the ones that came with the 7790 on a disk.

Hmm ok. If they said it should work, then it should be fine.

If I were you, I would completely uninstall the video driver - reboot your computer, and re-install the latest driver:

You might also be running into a lack of RAM, try running your game - and mid game alt+tab and go to your "Task Manager" and look at the "Performance" Tab. Check your CPU usage as well as memory usage.

By the way - what version of windows are you using? and is it 32bit or 64bit?

Doubt that your PSU is not supplying enough power. It MIGHT be on the ragged edge while playing some intense games, but should be fine.

I would hit the ASRock web site and make sure your chipset drivers are up to date. Old driver perhaps not playing well with the PCI 3.0 GPU ??? Keep it simple. Drivers / software updates first....

Well I know that both of the games that I mentioned (BF3 and Infestation) are really power hungry games so my ram might be the problem. But I thought that the ram I bought was pretty top end if I'm honest. I even forked out a bit more so I could get the 1866mhz edition. (Which I have got it clocked on the Bios.) I have also completely re-installed the drivers. But yet to try it on BF3 yet. Thank you for your help guys!
