Hi chaps,

I have a gaming laptop (yes, I know they're not fashionable...) and the specs are as follows:

i7-2670QM
NVIDIA 560M GTX
16GB DDR3 RAM
Standard 1366 x 768 screen resolution

I could play Battlefield 3 on Ultra - seriously, Ultra. It looked superb and played very well with an average of 40-50 FPS.

Now, I never expected to be able to run Battlefield 4 on Ultra, but I figured I might at least get it to look decent in Medium to High settings (at least as good as Battlefield 3 on Ultra).

The issue is that on Ultra, it plays at 15FPS (awful, obviously) and on High I can't get any more than an average of 30FPS (usually between 25-30 depending on action). Going any lower than that with regards to settings and the game looks more like Battlefield 2 than Battlefield 3...in short, it looks pants for a modern game and certainly annoying when online.

I just figured I could at least get the game looking as good as Battlefield 3 did, but it doesn't seem possible.

So, is there anything I can do to boost these figures without making the game look terrible?

I'm running the latest NVIDIA drivers, my fans are clean and my laptop is often de-cluttered. I'm not running anything in the background, either.

I was using something called nVidia Inspector and it gave me an additional 20 FPS, as for the problem I have no clue. Also try keeping everything high but disabling AA, I've noticed that causes problems on many peoples performance.

Laptops parts are generally weaker than the pc parts, as you can see we have almost the same specs, but i am on pc (check my setup on the right) I get 40-50 fps on 1080 p ultra setting on bf3. BF4 runs 40-50 fps on medium setting and AA off. Friend of mine upgraded to windows 8 and said that he got boost of 15 fps on BF4 and there was no fps lag anymore.

@Henry - How did you use nVidia Inspector to get a FPS increase?

@Maurelie - I'm reluctant to re-install Windows 8 (I tried it, hated it, did a fresh install of Win 7 x64) but it may be an option...

If you have copy of win 8 and you don't have to buy it, you may try. I've heard that 8.1 service pack is even better

Yeah, I bought Windows 8 for a shockingly low price a while ago - I might try it. Is it alright to just straight upgrade? Will I need to install all my stuff again? :\

Don't know much about win 8, do you have 2 partitions?

I have two hard drives with two partitions each, but I only like having one OS installed at a time. I'll give it a go...
