For what? If the mobo supports 4GB sticks then 2x4GB is preferred, less stress on the MC (memory controller), if stuck with using 2GB sticks the 4x4GB gives you *GB which is preferred and will run better than 6GB

That would depend on what you do, and 1600 may depend on the CPU, many AMD CPUs can't run 1600, the 965 C3 was the first to reliably run 1600 sticks
