Hello!

I thought I'd start by posting my first thread here to allow you to see what advice was given, and for my uses and my computer specs.

Now, I was informed to get the AMD Radeon 7790, which I purchased on Amazon and it arrived yesterday. I've seated the new card, and popped in the installation disk, and it instantly had me bamboozled when it informed me that it couldn't install, as I didn't have the VGA Card installed. I quickly searched Google, and came across a few solutions (mostly from this site) which I tried. Making sure the card was seated correctly (check), Downloading the drivers off the AMD Website (check), Downloading from Asus Website for VGA Drivers, which I have done, but it has installed folders, with a lot of different things, I am unsure if I need to install something within, however there are a lot of applications, and multiple which state "Setup" however these do not open?

I'm a bit lost here, as after all of this, I've went to use the disk once more, to still be greeted by the informative pop up requesting me to download the VGA Card. To be fair with you, i'm lost.

I've seen people advise to go through BIOS and Factory reset to try and fix it, however although I know what the BIOS is, I don't trust myself to enter there (as all websites say each one is different and none will give exact routes or information regarding it) and the factory reset, well this is a works computer, and to be fair, I really don't know when I last backed it up. So I couldn't tell you how far back it will take it. (All work can be moved onto a external HDD, if required, but I'd prefer that to be last method, to try. Don't want to reset to find that it didn't work, and have to reload all software back on.)

I hope this is not all too much, and as always, if you require more information, feel free to ask.

Thanks in advance!

Just my 2 cents worth but (and I have done this) I notice in your list of what you did to correct the problem with the card you didn't mention plugging in power to the card. Without the power plugged in it might not see the card. Just a thought !!

I'm sorry if this sounds ridiculously stupid, (and in my head I can already see that it is) but how may I do such a thing? The fans spin when the computer is on, but that's just it seated into the PCI E slot, I thought that was it plugged in
