I'm looking into getting a new monitor with a refresh rate of 144hz:

I currently have an EVGA 680 which works great for my 60hz monitor, but wont get enough fps to make it worth buying a new monitor. I was thinking of upgrading to a GTX 780, but based on some benchmarks I've seen online, I don't think a 780 will average near 144fps. So then I had the idea of buying another 680 and running in SLI. The problem is that the card I have has been discontinued on Newegg:

My question is, can I buy a slightly different 680 and still run in normal SLI? I was thinking this ASUS card, its specs are nearly identical:

My other question is, are there any other options out there that I haven't thought of? A second opinion on my situation would be very much appreciated!

Yes, any 680 will run sli together (if one has higher clocks then it will down-clock to the one you already have).

Also, instead of going with a 144hz 1080p monitor why not get a 1440p display (will look so much better)? - http://www.amazon.com/QNIX-QX2710-Evolution-LED-Monitor...
