I got the dell ultrasharp u2713HM monitor for photography, not for gaming. I have a AMD Radeon HD 7700 series, that apparently tops out at 1920n x 1200 x 60hz. I'm using the DVI cable. What is my best solution, and what is my cheapest solution? Thanks, Rob

What exactly are you asking?

Try the DisplayPort instead. You'll likely have better luck with that.

My existing card does not support 2560 x 1440. I was wondering if there was anyway to update it so it would work? If that's the case, would the displayport change do anything? I have found that it is hard to see graphic card screen resolutions listed on-line. I could not find them on the ATI Radeon site for example.

And to backtread- I suppose that I do need card capable of fast rendering since I do use CAD rendering programs, and video editing.

The 7700 series certainly does support 2560X1440. It just doesn't show the resolutions that the connection or monitor won't support. I suspect that you are using a single link DVI cable. The DisplayPort connection, which nearly all Radeon 7700 series cards have, would work much better.

Thank you dgingri. Dell shipped a dual link DVI cable with the monitor, but it had a bent pin. So I used another DVI cable that I had. After your post, I checked the Dell cable which was clearly labled Dual DVI, and straightened the pin. Now, everything works. I will get a displayPort cable and compare the two. So thank you. If you hadn't helped, I probably would have bought another card. Rob
