My week old Desktop PC randomly shuts off when I do intensive stuff AKA Game or run more than one program at a time. It has occurred when i plug in a Ethernet (May have been a coincidence), while Playing GTA, and while downloading something then opening a program like Google Chrome. My setup is a 970a-g43 motherboard, 8GB Corsair Vengeance RAM, HAF 912 Case, Gigabyte R9 270x OC Graphics Card, 8320 AMD Processor Stock AMD Fan. It has felt a little hot after games which I expect, but I don't think it is near too hot. Currently it is too hot to turn on so I can't download a program like SpeedFan to tell me the speeds.

when it turns on check the fans are running in the cmos bios look at the cpu and mb temp. with the unit off check that the cpu fan is on right and there no wires sucked into the fans. when the pc is running download msi afterburner set the gpu fan 100 percent at 50c. make sure in games the fans on the gpu spin up to max speed. also check that if your towner on carpet the shag not in the power supply fans. i use a book or two to keep my case off the carpet and give it some air space. check that the power supply fan is moving.

Are you 'over-clocking' your system? I am wondering if this is a timing issue.

And what is the name of the adapter that you connecting to the internet with?

It might be worthwhile just nipping into BIOS and turning off any and all the devices you don't use. This may reduce the power overhead slightly.

When you said that the computer was too hot to restart, were you saying that it wouldn't respond to you pressing the power button until it had cooled down?

I'm thinking that there is a thermal cut-out on your power supply.

Perhaps the PSU has too low a rating for your system. It seems to me that the system is operating at just beyond it's maximum power capability and that is why it is shutting down - the power supply is trying to preserve itself.

Could that be it? What is the power rating of your PSU?
