Hello fellow builders,

I am starting on a build for a friend and, in an effort to stay under a moderately tight budget, have decided to start the build with the above mentioned 965 that I no longer use. Yes, I have a compatible mobo.

My original build for my friend (before I remembered I had a perfectly good CPU lying around) was going to start with an APU; the AMD A8-5500 to be exact. Now when I had the 965 in my rig, I had a GTX 460 for graphics. I simply want to know whether or not it will run without one.

Keep in mind, this new PC will be used only for light office work including emails, Office2013, and some Photo Editing.

Thanks everyone in advance.

Ok that's good to know.

Would you mind explaining where the graphics processing/computing actually comes from then? (I'm talking without a dedicated GPU here)

Is it like an intel chip that has HD3000 or 4000 graphics on it? Or something else? I know motherboards sometime come with integrated graphics, but I'm pretty sure mine doesn't have them.

As a side note, this setup will have to power 2 1920x1080 monitors but, like I said above, only doing tasks like web, photoshop, netflix.

Thanks again.

After some more looking around, I can confirm I will need a dedicated gpu. Unfortunately, neither my mobo nor CPU have integrated graphics. However it will still be cheaper to buy a gpu to go with the 965 than buy a brand new A8 chip + mobo.

So, moving on to selecting a graphics card. This is one I found quick.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated; looking for something under $60. Thanks.

I don't know too much about them but something like that should be fine.
You could also get something like this 5450 for even less http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=14-102-882%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20
