So I am hosting a server on my personal computer and anyone outside of our house can see it and join just fine. However, my roomate is unable to connect, I have a feeling it has something to do with our home network so I will try and describe it here::
The apartment has ethernet ports throughout the house in all of the rooms, in one of these ethernet ports my PC is plugged in, and in another we have a router. Here are my PC's IP config results::
IPv4 Address : 24.219.213.249(Preferred)
Subnet Mask : 255.255.254.0
Default Gateway : 24.219.212.1
DHCP Server : 24.219.192.49
DNS Servers : 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
Also here is my routers WAN information::
Connection Type : DHCP
IP Address : 24.219.213.235
Subnet Mask : 255.255.254.0
Gateway : 24.219.212.1
DNS : 8.8.8.8:53, 8.8.4.4:53
Now, the router is provididing IP's in the range 192.168.1.100 - 192.168.1.149 and has an IP itself of 192.168.1.1. So my firends computer that is taking internet from the router has these IP settings :
IPv4 Address : 192.168.1.121
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1
DHCP Server : 192.168.1.1
DNS Servers : 192.168.1.1
We have tried to connect using the IP the server is hosted on "24.219.213.249" and cannot. However this address works for anyone outside of our house network, any ideas? It's a very frustrating issue. I can provide any information as needed.
