3Tb drive on Dell Precision 390?

I have a Dell Precision 390 which I am re-purposing to accept and store backups from my other systems. I bought a 3Tb Western Digital Red drive and installed it. I have read the other threads saying that you have to change the drive to GPT, which I have. But it is still limiting me to 2Tb. I have also seen mention of the motherboard needing to be compatible and of the SATA controller needing to be able to write 4Kb blocks.

So is there some tweak I can make to my system so it will write the 4Kb blocks and address the entire drive? If so, how do I do it?

Or is there some software or updated driver or something that will do it?

(Also, there is a checkbox that says "Request solutions to this Question (not a discussion)" just below this creat-a-new-thread box. I do not know the ramifications of it, so I left it checked which is the default. Feel free to educate me about it if you like.)

Thanks.

Oops! Sorry. I use Windows 7 Pro.

I know that a new ASUS motherboard I just bought came with an "unlocker" program to allow access to larger drives. Do I need something like that for my older Precision 390 system?
