As the title suggests I have bought an ASRock Z87 Extreme4 motherboard and i5-4760K CPU.

Everything was working fine for the first few weeks but now sometimes the motherboard won't switch off.

I've reset BIOS, updated it to the latest version, re-installed Windows 7 and even tried Windows 8.1 and it still doesn't switch off. The OS will shutdown without error, it just seems the motherboard doesn't receive the last command to power down.

I am at a loss and before emailing ASRock thought I'd ask the wider community. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

I'VE GOD DAMN FIXED IT!

For anyone else wanting to know, it was that stupid "Hybrid Shutdown" thanks to Windows 8.1 that was starting the Pc back up. I'd never even heard of it until now.

You can find the article to fix this here.

Seem to be having the same issue as you, Mart. I'll shutdown my desktop through windows, it'll power down, but the fans and mobo will remain on. I've run through most windows options. Seems like its time to pay a trip to UEFI options.
