First Impressions of Win8

I used one of my friends machines yesterday.

Let me see, How do I say this, without offending Microsoft.

It Sucks!

Is the only thing that comes to mind.

All this maze of desktop quick clicks is a supposed convenience but to most of us will be a total hindrance, it will be a long time before I actually spend my money on a Win8 installation for any machine I own.

Not because it possibly could be configured to the way I'm looking for, but more because you shouldn't have to.

Long live Win7!

This is just my own personal opinion, if any of you out there really love Win8, I'm happy for you!

I can say that any of you that love Win7, do yourself a favor and use someone else Win8 setup before you buy the operating system.

Put the the stuff you use most on the desktop/taskbar, that way you won't have to find it in the start menu. My favored use for the start menu is for searching the computer for stuff that I don't know where it is, it's a bit more fun to me than it was in 7 (make sure you don't have it search the internet as well, by default it is set to also use bing internet as well).
If you have 8.1 you can tell it to boot to desktop (not default when it's installed
Make sure you have up-to-date drivers

Other than that (aside from the task manager, which got a bit of a facelift), everything else wasn't too different between 7 and 8 (for me at least)
I'm sure it will get better when I have more time to explore it, and set it up like I want it, unfortunately I could not do that with my friends machine, my situation Win8 experience was directly dumped into it, with no prior experience of using it, and that was comparative to a crash course in learning another language, literally!

Learning Win8 will take time, and that's just not something I have right now to invest in someone elses machine.

Any quick tips however are most appreciated?
