How much do you rate this rig? Can the i7 4770k or i7 4930k give better multitasking performance as seen from performance/$ point of view? Or is FX8350 better in that sense?

I'd give this rig a 8/10. Four reasons.

1) If you are willing to spend that much then I'd get a i7-4770k.
2) H100i is decent but you gotta replace the fans with quieter ones.
3) Sidewinder is a great keyboard but I'd get a mechanical one instead. Much better response.
4) XFX is lower tier GPU manufacturer.

ok everybody is saying get an i7 4770k JUST DON'T tom and a lot of other people have proven that and i7 doesn't give any huge benifit above an i5 4670k . The i7 will be about 5% better then that i5 in gaming but thats not worth the extra 80$ also an fx 8350 is a pretty good chose an can be ocd pretty good but the h100I isn't such a great watercooler (pretty niosy and the fans included aren't that great). for the rest this setup is pretty good

i'm going to ask him now if this is only for gaming or not.
IS THIS ONLY FOR GAMING OR SOMETHING ELSE TO.
also he might just have picked up that memory because he thuoght that he would get better performance. also in rendering i have never seen a big difference between 1600 mhz memory and 2133 maybe 5% better but not much and i don't find it worth being the price

I forgot to mention. I'll be taking up computer science next year in college. So, I guess I'll be doing adobe AfterFX, Audition, Photoshop and lots of programming and tweaking. And I want a good overclocking solution too. That's why I thought maybe FX would be better than core i7.

well an fx 8350 is pretty good and the new i7 4770k sucks even more at ocing then the i7 3770k.
if i where you i would pick up an i7 3770k or 2600k or 2700k with a decent motherboard ot just keep the fx 8350

envy14tpe is right prices will come down and also amd is going to release there new cpu line in the beginning of 2014 + intel cpus now suck at ocing. the only good ocers where the intel core 2 till the snady bridge cpu's. the best thing you can do is wait and then the r9-290x non reference cards will be there with there not reference coolers
