quick backstory:

- My TV blew out during the storm and all HDMI ports inside it ceased working (my TV is basically trash now)

- I had my PS3, Bluray player and 360 all hooked up to the TV at the moment it blew out but they all work fine now.

- PC via monitor was on at the time of the blowout, and so was my stand alone bluray player (which still works via hdmi)

- An HDMI cord connected to my tv from my PC was plugged into the tv, but the signal wasn't active at the time since I was using my PC monitor at that moment.

I'm almost numb right now to be honest. Mainly because I have no warranty on this $400 card. I just don't understand how my bluray player made it out undamaged yet my GTX 680 didnt.

The graphics card works fine when plugged up to my small pc monitor via a DVI signal yet has no hdmi signal whatsoever now. (which is what I prefer to do my gaming on)

So is it fixable? Is it as simple as simply having a chip inside my graphics card replaced? And is there any place I could take it to get it fix if I'm unable to do so myself?

Does the 680 still work on the PC monitor?

I am assuming the Sony TV is not the one that is trashed?

Have you tried a different HDMI cable that you know for sure works at the moment?

Have you inspected the GTX 680 PCB and HDMI port for any signs of physical damage?

the Sony bravia is trashed (hdmi ports have no signal), I'm using another HDTV at the moment while trying to figure out whats wrong.

Just a moment ago I placed PS3's HDMI cable (which i know works) into the back of my PC/GTX680 and there was no signal at all.

Is there any way to fix the HDMI ports inside of a GTX 680? outside of the HDMI ports being completely dead the card works just fine.....yet it's worthless without the ports.... I have no warrenty :(

You can use the DVI cable to plug into your other TV. Still a bit weird that a simple thunderstorm f*ked your TV,

so is there no fix for the hdmi port?

I need to know whether or not I should bother calling up this repair shop

If the GPU still works and the only problem is that it won't display over HDMI then the problem might be a bad HDMI port. But you never said whether the GPU actually still functions on a PC monitor or not. If it doesn't work at all then there is no reason to even attempt to fix it as it is most likely the GPU core itself. If the GPU does work on a DVI or VGA/D-Sub then you could try playing around with the display settings to see if you can get the HDMI port to work again. Also, if there is visible physical damage that may have been caused by the lightning strike that would indicate a toasted card and is most likely not fixable.

I'm sorry if If I wasn't clear enough, yes it still works but only on DVI via my small PC monitor, I prefer to do my gaming on my 40" inch tv though.

Since the GPU itself is fine is there some kind of way to simply fix the hdmi port inside of the GPU?

is that even possible?
