How up-to-date / out-of-date is my monitor?

First of all a warning: N00bish question ahead. ;)

So, I was thinking about getting a new monitor around christmas. The problem is that I don´t even know if I need a new one.
I currently have an Acer V223HQ which I bought with my second to last build (I think).

These are the technical specs:
21.5" TFT 1920x1080 resolution
5ms reaction time

Now, my question is, is my monitor out of date and how much would I be looking at for a new one which should be good enough to really feel a difference?

As far as I know, the best right now (excluding 4k displays of course) would be a 1440p, 120-140Hz IPS display, right?
Or maybe one of those fancy G-sync displays?

While I use it mostly for gaming I am kinda a sucker for good colors.

No, your monitor is not out of date. It's got all the stuff monitors have these days too. Same stuff different wrapper. Although you could get a bigger monitor or go the multi monitor way and make it give you unimaginable joy. And isn't Christmas. All about the joy of having Santa over for a midnight feast.

Thought about that, too.
Two more of the same model wouldn´t even be 300€.

True. But I usually can´t get that lurker off my couch once he is down.

Just a quick follow-up question:
Currently I have a Gigabyte Winforce GTX 780 Rev. 01 in my rig and if I WERE TO go tripple monitor setup, I´d probably end up getting another one.
(All very hypothetical at the moment.)
But would the 3GB VRAM of the 780 SLI setup be enough for BF4 at ultra settings on 3 monitors?

Basically, to drive 3 monitors at the same fps as your current, then you would need 3x the power. As you are proposing only 2x the power, then you would get roughly 1/3rd less fps than what you are getting currently.

I am not too concerned about the FPS. I am currently getting around 80FPS.
But would your calculation also apply to the VRAM usage.

I have yet to find out how much VRAM BF4 uses on my specific system but I´ve read it usually uses up around 2GB.

Hard to find any benchmarks for that to be honest.

I would say it would run it just fine, as long as you had all AA turned off.
