DVI for video and HDMI for sound?

Can I use DVI for video and HDMI for sound with my Asus VG248QE?

It's 144hz, so I need the DVI Dual Link. It also has built in speakers.

Would I have to connect the DVI to my vid card and HDMI to my motherboard?

You can connect the DVI for the video output and use the line out on the motherboard for sound to the Monitor, if you use the HDMI for sound it will be on a different input so you won't get sound when you select the DVI source as your input where your video signal is.
