I have been running a lot of older games very smoothly which isn't surprising. But, when it comes to new games coming out such a Battlefield 4 and Rome 2 Total War. I have been getting pretty low performance. Metro Last Light and a few other hardware intensive games have also been giving me lower performance than I was expecting. I have seen people with very similar systems getting a pretty decent amount better performance then me which I found odd.

I was thinking that maybe my CPU over clock is unstable yet runs perfect after a few hours on PRIME95 blend test and CPU only test. Any suggestions on what might be going on?

I figure this to be honest. At the moment is there anything I should wait for before going out any buying a new motherboard and CPU? Like new line of chips from INTEL or AMD? Or is there a good CPU and MOBO combo out there that should last me a good amount of time and maybe throw in another GTX 670 for a SLI build in the future?

Just trying to save money. If you want a 4670k then you will need a z87 board for overclocking. On these chips, do not expect performance gains from overclocking in games. It is a hobby, not really for gaining gaming performance, as these CPUs will max all games stock.
