Before I attempt to communicate my situation, I want to say how much I appreciate the information
so many people have contributed to this sight. knowledge is empowering, so thank you, thank you, thank you. I am trying to get back into digital film work. My current system is, at best, obsolete, and so, for financial reasons, I am trying to build my own system capable of working with HD video. I have about 2500.00 to work with and after spending an insane amount of time and energy, spinning my technically limited wheels, trying to get good information, in choosing the right system components, here is some of what I was thinking:

CPU: Intel i7 4930
Cooler: Corsair Hydro H50
MOBO: Asus P9X79 Pro
OS: Win 7 pro64 bit
Memory: 16 GB RipJaw Z DDR3 1866
GPU: Nvidia GTX 770 2Gig
Blue Ray: Pioneer RBDR 208
Power: Corsair Pro AX1200i
System drive: 2GB Seagate Barracuda XT 7200
Media Drives: 2X3GB Seagate Barracuda XT 7200 ( Raid 0)
Case: Antec Nine Hundred Mid Tower

Not sure about a raid controller card.

Hello,

i would pick a cpu cooler that would be just a bit better like the H60,H80i or the H100i,depending on price and wether the case supports it,or for an air cooler the noctua NH-D14 for instance.

For memory in a rig like this i probably would go for 32gb's=4x8gb's.It stil leaves the option to upgrade. With the air cooler it would better be low profile ram.

You don't need a 1200watt psu for something like this, not even with sli.A good 850 watt psu would be sufficiënt if you wanted to go for sli in the future,if not a good 650watt psu already would be good.

When you spend money like this i would get a ssd for my o.s. like the samsung 840 evo or the kingston hyperX 3K.I would go for a minimum of 120gb's but would prefer myself a...

For a work computer i personally would prefer a quite silent system and would choose a case accordingly like for instance the Fractal Design Define R4 or something like that one,but that's something personal.
