Hello community,

I've read that it is possible to put AM3 processors in AM2+ socket but it depends on motherboard and you need a BIOS update after.

So, what would be the processor for me to get in this situation?

Currently i have AMD Phenom 9650 X4 2,33GHz clocked to 2,6GHz

My motherboard:
Manufacturer Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
Model GA-MA770-UD3 (Socket M2)
Chipset Vendor AMD
Chipset Model 770
Chipset Revision 00

Ok, if I download F9G drivers and intall them now, will not it ruin my overclocking for the CPU that is active right now?

And I suppose any of Phenom II X6 would work great, but the prices are high.

Phenom II X4 975 seems to be one of the best CPUs (balancing performance & price)
