Hello, I want to eventually build a new PC but I don't have the money for all the parts atm but I still want to play AC4 and BF4 and COD Ghosts all on ultra, so I am going to buy my GPU first to hold me off until I have enough money to get an i5 4670, and new RAM, case, PSU etc. I want to get the R9 280x but I only have a Cooler Master 500w PSU. Is this enough for this GPU or do I have to buy a better PSU in order to get the 280x?

More about : amd 280x power requirement

Well technically it'd work. But its advisable to get a new PSU. If you're tight on cash then GTX 760.It still requires a better PSU but its power demands are less.

Ohh btw which CPU you have?

while its technically rated for enough power, coolermaster PSU are junk most of the time.
I am sure it does not even deliver 400W.

Then again you gave us very little info, no specs? No PSU model numger? Nothing?

Well, I will just wait to get a new PSU first then, I dont want to shorten the life of my GPU or anything, and I have a AMD 5500 APU that came with my PC which is why I want to get the i5 4670 because my current CPU bottlenecks my AMD 7850 hugely it seems.

Your power supply is sufficient enough. However you should get another supply for more head room.

No offense but APU will bottleneck that card badly. You should probably wait and get yourself an i5 first then GPU
