DDR in A DDR2 Slot

Don't ask me how I did it.....Just.....Don't......
But, now my computer isn't working. So, pretty much, I thought that my stick of ram was ddr2. Oops. It isn't. I put it in. Without forcing it! It clicked in perfectly. I can't even get it to fit in now when I tried it. So, I turned my computer on with ddr2 and ddr in the 2 slots. Sniff sniff, what's that? Smoke!!!! OH NO! I turn off the computer IMMEDIATELY. I take the ddr out and set it aside. I remove and feel the other stick of ram. Feels cool all over. Heck, to get smoke, you have to have heat. Right? I put it back in and attempt a boot. Screen is blank. Now, this had happened previously after messing with RAM, but by removing the graphics card and putting it back in after dusting and messing with the RAM fixed it. The screen is still staying black and there's the faintest smell of smoke. I am not sure if it's new smoke or old smoke. (hopefully old) I have tried other ram in it, but the screen stayed blank. My graphics card is an HIS HD4670 ICEQ Turbo and the minimum ram requirement is 1 gig while I did half a gig stick in to test it. (i don't have a bigger stick unless I take from my family computer and trust me, that is last resort. If the pc doesn't work within 2 weeks after my tinkering, people think it's my fault as I am the family IT guy who opens up computers)

What should I do? Did I fry my motherboard or my ram. Hoping it's the latter. Heck, at least I only spent 40 bucks on this computer and I'll still get the Athlon64 x2 and experience it has given me. I was really hoping to use the motherboard in the computer I'm building. Already got a 1000 gig hard drive and Soprano ThermalTake Case that someone gave me along with a new power supply and disk drive.

Solution
there is no need to really have a minimum amount of ram to test graphics card

I say you probably fried your motherboard, don't use DDR in DDR2 :p
If you managed to force DDR into a DDR2 board, you fried it. It shouldn't be easy as the notches are a bit off but the problem is that the electric lanes are different and you probably shorted the board causing it to fry. Add in that DDR has 184 pins and DDR2 had 240 pins in the same spacing and that means your board is gone.

Sorry but you need a new motherboard.

The PSU works. First off, I didn't force it. I am a magician. I did the impossible. Lel. :p At least Ik where to get a motherboard, decent graphics card, hard drive, PSU, and Athlon64 X2 processor for 40 bucks. *sigh*.

I would have sworn that it was DDR2. This is so depressing. It was a good motherboard. Asrock.

*starts singing for she was a jolly good motherboard* :(

I talked to a friend who did almost the same thing that I did. He said that he fixed it by holding the power button for an hour and draining the capacitor. I'm going to try it.
