Ram causing start up issues.

Sometimes, my computer won't startup. It goes into this infinite loop of trying to startup but never even getting to the bios screen. When I remove my ram stick, the motherboard will beep like it doesn't have any ram, cause it doesnt. But then when I put the ram in, it will try to startup, not make any beeps, then fail and try again. Then I remove the ram, and put it back in and it works sometimes, other times I'll have to do it again and again. Then it will work fine for months and one day just stop working again and I'll repeat the process.

Anyone have any idea what is causing this? Could it be my ram or my motherboard?

Could be either, you only have one stick of DRAM? May want to see if you can borrow a stick just to test with, if a known good stick does the same then it's not your DRAM and can then troubleshoot further - could be mobo, PSU, a lot of things

I used to have two sticks of 4gb ram, but when this first happened, I coudlnt get it to work with 2 sticks but somehow it worked with one. I tried a good stick of ram from a friend but I wasn't sure if it was compatible or not. It didn't work neither. I'm thinking its my motherboard but... not sure.
