Hello, i have recently bought a new graphic card and monitor, i bought the AMD HD 7990 and as screen i bought the asus PB278 which goes up to 1440p.

Now before my pc used to work fine and i could play all games, but now that i have put in the new graphic card and the new screen as soon as i start a game, the screen freezes or goes gray or black. I can still hear sound but i cant move my mouse or use alt + tab or ctrl + alt + del. It either does this or when i start a game the screen is moving down. I will have a fixed picture of the main menu of the game but behind it its another one moving around falling from up the screen to the bottom. Every time i start a game this happens and i need to reboot my pc, I don't know why this is happening and have been looking on alot of forums but i cannot find any awnsers, its making me very upset... I also tried to see if it might be because im running on 1440p but the same thing happens in 1080p.

I also like to note that i did reinstall my pc so its a totally new clean version and reinstalled the drivers for the graphic card like 5x aswell.

The weird thing is, i can run one game that i play mainly it's called League of Legends. It did crash 4 or 5 times in the start but after trying the AMD beta drivers and disabling the vertical sync and putting the frame rate uncapped it is working fine now and i can play it without it crashing or acting weird.

I don't understand why i can play League of Legends but any other game crashes or freezes or does something it should not do. I am totally clueloss on how to solve this problem and would really appreciate any help. Sorry for my bad English.

I Also like to note that i am using a DVI-D Dual link cable, as i read somewhere that i might need to use a DVI-I dual link but i am not sure how this would help. And i read somewhere else it could be caused by having speakers and cables near ur DVI cable. I have a HUGE surround system quite close to my monitor and pc and alot of cables, but i have had this with my old screen and graphic card aswell and never had this problem.

Well mate this psu is kinda really bad. I would sugest u to buy some 850 or stronger 80+ PSU this PSU is just not psu for that card, also you have 1tb HDD,SSD, strong cpu and all that fans this psu cant handle whole system so it fails in games becouse while u are playing everycomponent start using more power then on idle. Also say me how much money are you ready to spend on new PSU

Hmm oke i would be happy if this is the problem because it will be quite easy for me to solve, i can spend around 100 english pounds or somewhere around that. But I myself live in Sweden ;) I will look on the web and get a PSU that has like 1200watts? Or perphaps you could link me a good PSU that i could buy to replace it. As i said i can play league of legends but any other game will already start to act weird in the main menu of the game and either the screen freezes or the screen is moving really weird. So i really hope a new PSU would solve this problem. :D

You dont need more then 850w only if u are planing to put that 2 cards in crossfire then you could buy 1200w psu, all till u want to use only 1 card 1200w is ovverkill for your system, you will just get bigger electric bills notting more :), i would suggest you any 850 w psu from Coolermaster, XFX, Raidmax, Fortron, Corsair or at last Chieftec. If u ask me i personaly use RAIDMAX 835W 80PLUS Bronze modular with my GTX Titan and its working lik charm. If u want to buy PSU just watch for 80+ Efficiency certificate and u will be happy for sure. I hope that i help u :) i am also gamer in my hearth so i totaly understand you i also play lol and i enjoy it but i am also experiencing almost same problem like yours and i fix it with new psu :)

7990 recommends a 850 PSU and the card has a TDP of 375. You actually can have a PSU that is too big and 1200 is too much IMO. It won't hurt the system PSU just won't run as efficient. If you are going to error do it on the high side and not low. I have a 7990 and bought a Cosair 860Axi which is a top of the line PSU. They did have some refurbs on their website that were half price but I suspect you are in Europe so that probably won't work.
