My video card unfortunately died recently, so it's time to replace!

As the title insinuates, should I get a R9 290X now or wait for the 780Ti from NVIDIA (which, might I say looks very promising!)

I'll be mainly playing BF4 and various other games such as Batman AO, Counter-Strike and indie titles such as Chivalry. I plan to also play Watch Dogs, when it eventually releases.

The system it'll be paired with:
MSI Z77 MPower
i7-3770K @ 4.7GHz
16GB DDR3 2400MHz
Corsair 850W PSU

So, assuming cost wasn't an issue, which route would you take if you were in my situation?

I saw the leaked benchmarks and if true the GTX is as fast as a
GTX 690 and a HD 7990. AMD fans still claim that the R9-290x has the best price per performance value but at this point the GTX 780Ti flat out smokes the R9-290X.

If this card is indeed the full on GK110 that Nvidia were talking about a year and half ago then Maxwell should be stellar from the get go as they've had more than enough time to make sure it hits the ground running.

Symbology What is it then?

A Workstation card for the masses, some of them at least. Just look at the price of a Quadro card and then tell me that a Titan isn't cheaper.

You mean this card can be used for several computers at once?

What graphics card can do that? Try looking up Workstation Graphic cards to get an idea of what they are for or just google Quadro Workstation cards.

I googled it and says that they are for specific appliations. Are there cards for scrypt coin hash calculations?

If that's like Bitcoin mining then you want an AMD card.

Don't get the 290X now. That card runs so hot that I can't believe AMD is comfortable with it. Wait for XFX & company to make better coolers. By that time, the 780 Ti will be out and there will be plenty of comparisons between the two :)
