Hello there,

I have recently been trying to overclock my AMD FX 4100 chipset to atleast 4.0ghz. But, currently I came a across a problem where, I cannot set my CPU to go above 3.7ghz, even with Turbo Tech, AMD Cool'n'Quiet and C1E support disabled. Could this be a power-supply error? or voltage?

If it is a voltage, how do I change the volts on a MSI 760GM-P23 motherboard.

I honestly cannot give you a name for the PSU, as there is no branding on the PSU itself, but it has seemed to keep me going for months on end. But, please try to give me solution before telling me to get a new PSU.

PSU: 550W - NO BRAND SPECIFIED
CPU: AMD FX 4100 - CURRENTLY AT 3.7GHZ
RAM: 1X 4G RAM, 1X 2GB RAM (BOTH CORSAIR) RUNNING ON DUAL CHANNEL
MOTHERBOARD: MSI 760GM P23
GPU: AMD RADEON HD 7770 1GB GDDR5
CASE: ZALMAN ZM-T2

Also, whenever I start Planetside 2 and games like that, it seems like my CPU puts itself to sleep.

I am using stock cooler.

I've been playing Planetside 2 for the last 4 days, and barely got a problem. Then, came today, I can't play at all, without the clock speed going down to 1.4ghz and multiplier oging down to x7.

I have not upgraded my CPU recently.

Yes, I am overclocking via the BIOS, I've disabled most of the things people advise to turn off when overclocking.

A bump after so long. My clock speed keeps on going down to 1400mhZ, and Multiplier of x7. I've changed the thermal paste and the cooler. And, it seems like it's not helping. Anyone know why whenever I play CPU intensive games, my PC completely decides to go into power-saving mode and never wake back up? I have disable C1E, AMD Cool'n'Quient..

It does seem odd.

You could try resetting your BIOS settings to optimised defaults. You could also check your power settings within windows, whether its set on power saving, balanced or high performance.

I also rechecked your screenshot and your +12V is very low. It could be a problem with your power supply.

Could it be a problem with my PSUs airflow? Maybe heating up a bit? I mean, the PSU has been working fine for ages till a couple of months ago.

Well, the clock speed started to just go down and never wake back up. I thought it would be heating, So, I bought a new cooler, and before I put that new cooler in I had 2 RAM sticks showing, after the cooler, I had 1 RAM stick showing. This probably gave me an idea that there was not enough power flowing around the board, but I've been told that it should be able to run the rig fine.

And yes, I do not want to change it, not right now.

Actually, I've only got 2 DIMM slots on the Mobo, but via CPU-Z it says it is a Dual Channel (well, when it use to actually work).
