Upgrading my system, suggestions

Hello,

I would like some suggestions about my current system. It was bought as a pre-made system, with low-specs, at that time, which means it would be really slow by today's standards. Having said that, I have changed a couple of components over the years, but it's still not running as smoothly as I would like it to. In summary, the system was a Intel Celeron, with an integrated graphics card. Now, it's more like:

  • Intel Core Duo 6600 2400 MHz, (stock cooling)
ATI Radeon HD 4850, (stock cooling)
    Intel motherboard,
Some aftermarket power suppy, but I don't see the brand.
    500 GB Seagate Hard Drive.

The thing is, my computer crashes a lot, but I don't know why. It has a Windows 7 OS on it, which has been there for a while, so I get a couple of blue screens of death once in a while.
But the CPU and GPU temperatures are about 30-40 degrees Celsius (86-104 F), so that shouldn't be a problem.
But it is, because, if I use a cooler from the outside to cool the components, the system works fine.

So, briefly, with 'Core Temp', 'GPU Temp' and 'HWMonitor', all my components are running at 30-40 degrees Celsius, and I am getting constant freezes/crashes, unless I point a outside fan into the open computer case, which is really annoying.

So, could I get any suggestions on what to do now? In terms of OS or cooling, what should I change? Should I re-install Windows, change the cooling or something else?

Thanks in advance.

It's my first post, so if I did anything wrong, don't be cruel in judging it.

Try reinstalling Windows, but I suspect it's your power supply. I once had a low-end setup for 720p gaming and despite all the upgrades (RAM and whatnot), I started experiencing random BSODs and shutdowns. I did a lot of things, like underclocking and reinstalling software to no avail.
