Advice on if I should upgrade my rig for the next generation of games?

Hey everybody, looking for your expert advice here. My current build is:

CPU: Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad Core Processor BX80601950
CPU Cooler: Intel Cooling Fan that came with it
Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth X58 LGA 1366 Intel x58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel
Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 12GB (3 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9T-12GBRL
Storage: 450 GB 5200RPM
Storage: 3TB 7200RPM
Video Card: SAPPHIRE 100312SR Radeon HD 6950 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity
Case: AZZA Solano 1000 Black Japanese SECC Steel/Metal mesh in front Micro ATX/ATX/Full ATX Computer Case

Operating System: Windows 7 64 bit

My question is, do I need to upgrade anything in this build to run Next Gen games in all their glory. I don't want to be stuck playing at low quality.

try it first, if you are satisfied with the performance, why upgrading?

I see some potential upgrade there :
you need a fast HDD, make sure you install windows on 7200RPM HDD or SSD (in case you installed it in the 5200rpm hdd)
upgrade GPU to AMD R9 290X will be very nice choice
