Guys I have a problem. As my main OS I have Window 7 (X64) installed on to a 32GB SSD. When windows 8 was released I bought a couple of keys while MS was selling them for £40, but as I was happy with Win 7 I never got around to installing Win 8. Today I decided to Partition one of my 4TB HDD's and dual boot Windows 8.

So I totally formatted the HDD and went through all the drama of installing it without issue. But after installation was complete windows boot manager failed to show up. It just booted straight into Win 8. I though no problem I just need to repair the BCD. So I safe booted into a command prompt and used the Bootrec /RepairBCD command. But even that only found one valid install which is the win 8 one.

Now if go into my bios and force it to boot from the SSD win 7 boots fine and works with no issues, so I went back to win 8 and tried the Bootrec /ScanOs command. Still that shows only one valid install.

So does anyone know how I can fix this? without having to go through the bios every time to switch OS?

Oh and if it matters windows 7 is installed without UEFI enabled but Win 8 is installed with it enabled will that be the problem?

Thanks in advance for your help :D

MY SSD is only 32GB and I only have like 18GB free. If I partitioned it there would barely be enough room for windows 8 neither mind crap like metro apps, temp files and software that needs to be installed to c:\. That's why I chose a 1TB partition for Win 8.
