I have never built a PC before and have no experience with computers, but I am prepared to get into PC gaming and have heard and seen that building your own is the cheapest way to do it. This is the built that I have come up with, and was wondering if anyone could suggest improvements or tweaks I should be making. I wanted to keep the build below £500 but ended up going over that by a little, so any price reductions or deals would be appreciated without substituting performance. Here's the build: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor (£79.99 @ Aria PC)
Motherboard: MSI 760GMA-P34(FX) Micro ATX AM3+ Motherboard (£40.51 @ Scan.co.uk)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£62.13 @ Amazon UK)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£46.96 @ CCL Computers)

Thanks for the reply. I took into account the things you suggested, especially the large price reduction, as well as finding a site with £10 off Windows 8, so I actually managed to get it below £500! Maybe I might buy a disk drive I'll probably only use once. Anyway, here's the build if you're interested: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

EDIT: I may just in fact go for this one, only as its a more reliable company and only slightly more expensive: http://www.cclonline.com/product/126324/11217-01-20G/Graphics-Cards/Sapphire-Radeon-R9-270X-Overclocked-Dual-X-2GB-Graphics-Card-PCI-E-DVI-HDMI-DisplayPort/VGA1942/?gclid=CJKJ04e0yboCFceWtAodhCgAtg

If cclonline is trusted go for it.
