Can the old Intel i7 950 work together with the new GTX 780 SLI?

Hi

I am still running i7 950 oc to 3.8 Ghz with corsair H50 and I am wondering if gtx 780 in SLI would bottleneck my CPU.

My rig:
Mobo: Asus P6T Deluxe V2
Ram: Kingston HyperX 12GB (2000Mhz)
GPU: Gigabyte Radeon 6990
PSU: Tagan 1200W (I do not remember any exact stats on it),I can provide some more info on it if it's necessary.
System runs on Kingston SSD 120GB
CPU cooler: Corsair H50-push-pull

I was considering upgrading my GPU to either one or two 780's.Just to make sure is Gtx 780SLI an overkill for 1920x1080 gaming? I can always stick with just one of them :)

Thank You for help
Mike

Yes,I've heard that new 780 Ti is about to come out on the market.I guess I can wait for it :)
Btw just out of curiosity is PCI-E 2.0 x16 enough bandwidth for cards like 780 or Titan?
I was considering SLI in case of chaning my screen-atm iiyama 23" but maybe it's time for something newer.

IAMEXTREME is right that a single 780 is all you'll need for 1080p right now. I can max out almost every game at 1440p with a single overclocked 780. The 780 Ti does look like it will be a good card and with how close to release it is it's probably smart to wait. Your 6990 is still a pretty powerful card. You might find more enjoyment upgrading the monitor first.

Thank You very much guys.I really appreciate Your help!
I will go wait then for 780Ti and start upgrading from that or maybe even 8xxx series, since it should/might be released in the Q1 2014-which is just few months from now :)
