Help with cd driver problems on EVGA GeForce GTX 660

Hello,
i recently built my own computer and the build worked until i installed some drivers for my video card via the cd. whenever inturn my computer on and it loads to the login screen, the background is black but i can still see and move my mouse bbut when i type in my password it loads and i just see the generic windows background but no icons or start button or anything except for my mouse which i can see and move. I can also still enter in Safe Mode
my setup is:
ASUS MAXIMUS VI HERO
i5-4570
corsair vengence 16GB (2x8)
EVGA GeForce GTX 660
windows 7 64 bit
TP-Link (TL-WDN4800)
and a 2TB hardrive, power supply, fans, etc
please help me.

Right click on the desktop, goto screen resolution and check your screen settings. It sounds like your monitor is set as the extended monitor of a two screen configuration. Do you have a second monitor, like a tv connected?

Only one monitor hooked up and I checked my display settings and it is set as one monitor

Unistall the driver in save mode, download new driver from Nvidia website and install that?
