What is a good 1080p monitor for gaming?

I just finished deciding on the components for my new computer and I need a monitor to go with it. The computer is going to be used for gaming and school. I'm unsure of what the typical price range is for monitors, but I was looking at these two. Are one of these good? Or is there another that you would recommend?

The only thing that might change in the build is that I may get a gtx 780, but I'm not sure at the moment. If you can explain your choice just so I can understand the reasoning better. Thank you for all your help.

Those monitors have rather large response times for gaming. Response times measure how fast a pixel on the monitor can change from one color to another; slow response times result in what's called ghosting, where you see afterimages (ghosts or trails) on the screen when screen content changes quickly. This can be distracting in fast-paced games. I would suggest finding monitors with 5 ms response times or lower (2 ms or lower is really good).

Decent 23-24 inch 1080p 60Hz monitors will run you around $150-200. The Asus VS247H-P is a good monitor at an affordable price with a fast 2 ms response time. It is also an IPS monitor which means good color reproduction and viewing angles.

So I don't know that much about the refresh rate with gaming. With for example the ASUS PB Series PB238Q Black 23 which has 6ms is it really that bad for gaming, is the ghosting obvious? I like the adjustment potential it has. Is there a version similar to the VS247H-P that has the adjustment potential of the PB series that is also ISP?
