I want to set up two monitors and this will be my first time doing it. I have a good PC and I run a IceQ x2 7970, and I will be using two Asus VS248 monitors. What is my best course of action for accomplishing this set-up. My 7970 has 1x HDMI, 1x DVI, and 2x Mini-display ports. Any help would be appreciated! :)

Display port is better connection than any of the others. HDMI is essentially the same "Legacy" type connector as DVI and VGA and you may only use 2 of these in an Eyefinity setup. Personally display port is easier setup if you have the cables already. I bought mine from Monoprice. With a two monitor set up it comes down to preference and price really.

So you think I should just get two mini-display to HDMI cables and run both monitors via that, or just get one and run one of them via HDMI? Money isn't really an issue, I just want what will look and perform best.

Going from display port to HDMI is no better performance and is down grading the connection. Display port to display port is the same. If money is not an object use display ports. They are much smaller and cleaner install IMO compared to bulky DVI. I paid about $7 per 15' cable I think for mini display port to display port which was cheaper than DVI and much smaller as its about the size of a USB cable including the ends.
