Will this laptop's CPU handle what I do?

Note: I asked in the laptop section, didn't get any answers. Asking here in case I might get answers. Please don't gripe at me about this.

Hello guys! Currently I have the HP Envy SleekBook 6-1010US, and while it's a handy laptop, I have been doing more things on the computer, and it hasn't been able to handle everything I do (it only has a dual core AMD A6 processor).

I am buying a new laptop, and my budget is $600. I am going to wait for Black Friday in case of any crazy deals, but I found this laptop on newegg for $534. It's an HP Envy 17.

It has a dual core i5 processor clocked at 2.6 GHz with hyperthreading and 8 GB of RAM. The graphics are intel hd 4000, but I don't mind since I don't do any major gaming (just small games from time to time). Some things I do are basic video editing, programming, web design, and of course web surfing (YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, etc.). I do these things on my current laptop, and it hasn't been able to handle it well (CPU always running at 80-100%, getting really hot, fan spinning wildly).

Will this laptop be able to handle my daily tasks? Or should I wait till Black Friday and get a more powerful laptop (maybe with an i7) at a higher price? Thanks in advance!

If I can build or buy a desktop with more power than this laptop at a cheaper price, please notify me. Thanks.

Solution
The desktop will more powerful than the laptop, I pick some parts for you, the price is $560 with the Home Premium SP1 or if you want get the win8 from newegg.com for the same price.
Also if you want get the more powerful GPU too.

the gpu will be worse then what you're using now. i'd wait till black friday. as long as you don't know what you want and your laptop will do what you need it to do and isn't broken, you can wait safely for a good deal. It's only 3 weeks from now. see what is available. heck even an a10 would be a pretty noticeable upgrade over that a6.

anyone who says intel hd ANYTHING is a decent igpu hasn't used it. it benches well, and the tech specs are alright. but the drivers are so bad it's damned near worthless. Open 3 tabs on your web-browser and the whole system will slow to a crawl. intel graphics just isn't there yet because of the terrible driver support.

OP will notice a sizeable performance drop off on the igpu going from that a6 to that i5.

Can I build or buy a desktop with more power than this laptop for a cheaper price? Like one with an Intel processor and a Radeon or NVIDIA graphics card?

I was afraid that Intel graphics were going to be lacking...

Thank You so much! I am definitely going to consider this setup, but maybe switch the case out with another one.

Again, thank you very much.
