WD 750 Gig external Hard drive

I have a 750 Gig external hard drive that was working just fine when I purchased my new Lenovo windows 8 laptop. I went to use it one day and it will not load. I have tried all 3 usb ports, it powers on and it has the original power supply. The hard drive works just fine on the TV and my computer at work which is also windows 8. When I go to my computer to open the drive it shows it as drive F but nothing loads. Can any help me out or point my in the right direction?

Plug the drive in, then go to the Disk Management wizard (Windows Key + X to bring up Power Users menu, select Disk management). Once the drives are showing in the window, click on Action, and select Rescan Disks. Should force the system to detect the drive.

I am getting a message that says the drive can not start and it has been terminated. How do I correct this? I have updated the hardware and that did not fix it.
